Wedding Invitation Etiquette

A bride recently asked me the following questions regarding invitations:
When should I mail my wedding invitations and is  o.k. to use email invitations?
The general rule of thumb is to mail your invitations to your guest six to eight weeks before your wedding date! Emailing a wedding invitation is not an option if your wedding style is formal.  Part of the formality is following tradition.  There's no doubt that the cost of paper invitations, postage and the time involved selecting and addressing them can take a bite out of your wedding budget.go for a less expensive invitation or purchase a DIY wedding invitation package on-line.   For any informal or casual wedding, an email invitation supplemented by a wedding website can provide quick access to information such as maps, accommodations, and other important details. But be aware, that some of your guest would still consider this type of invitation tacky and in poor taste.
